Ingredients
- Oil for deep frying
- 2/3 cup half and half
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup flour
- 1 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 8 slices French bread
- 8 thin slices cooked turkey
- 8 thin slices cooked ham
- 8 slices Swiss Cheese
- Powdered sugar
- Raspberry jam for topping (optional)
Instructions
- In a deep fryer or heavy stock pot; heat oil to 365 degrees (180)
- While oil is heating prepare the batter. Whisk milk, eggs, flour, baking powder and vanilla in shallow bowl. Season with salt. Set aside in refrigerator.
- Assemble sandwich by placing two slices of turkey on one slice of bread, two slices of ham on another, then sandwich them with the Swiss cheese in the middle. Cut sandwiches in quarters, secure with toothpicks. Dip in batter to coat all over then put into deep fryer and cook till sandwich is golden brown on all sides.
- Remove and drain on paper towel. Serve warm and dust lightly with powdered sugar. Serve with raspberry jam on side. (Opt)
