Ingredients
- 9 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2/3 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 large egg whites, room temperature
- Confectioners' sugar
- Whipped cream for serving
- Warm Caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat waffle iron. Put the butter and milk in a bowl and whisk together. Whisk in the flour until the mixture is fairly smooth, then whisk in the sugar, salt, and vanilla.
- In a clean dry bowl, beat egg whites with an electric mixer until they hold firm glossy peaks. Fold the flour mixture into the beaten whites.
- Pour 1/4 of the batter onto your hot waffle iron and use a metal spatula to spread it evenly over the grids. You may not need to spread batter depending on the size of iron. Bake the waffle for about 2 minutes, or until nicely browned. Repeat with the remaining batter.
- Dust waffles with confectioners' sugar and serve with caramel sauce.
